Masorti Movement

Masorti Movement
The movement of Conservative Judaism in Israel. The founders sought to establish an alternative to Orthodox Judiasm—they established neighborhood synagogue centers (ke-hillot) and educational programs and institutions. Although the educational and academic programs appeared to be successful, Masorti institutions did not attract or sustain large numbers of native-born Israelis. Judaism and Orthodoxy appear still to be equated in the minds of most Israelis.
